Descripción

Right on the bank of the river Dão, between Coimbra and Viseu, four lovely restored farmhouses offer peace and quiet in a beautiful setting, with magnificent views over the river and the old town of Santa Comba Dão.
There are several terraces on the Quinta, bordered with vine-tendrils. Here you can find a vegetable garden and fruit trees.
There is also a small vineyard on the Quinta and nearer to the river there are some very old cork oaks.
Three of the four old farm cottages Casa das Mimosas, Casa da Tília and Casa da Nogueira are dotted around the country-seat (3 hectares) on the river-side. So much privacy and tranquillity is to be found there.
The fourth house, Casa da Abelenda, has its own grounds at about 500 meters from the other houses. This cottage stands alone within 5 ha. of land with various species of trees, facing the view of a lovely valley with a small stream. From the wooden veranda you can occasionally spot a fox or a wild boar.
The 4 cottages are decorated with rustic charm and have a homely feel about them thanks to the tasteful use of wood, traditional tiles and granite.
They offer you the choice of a room, an apartment or a whole house with magnificent views over the river.
All of the rooms and cottages have central heating.

Servicios

If you prefer a swimming pool instead of swimming in the river, there is one nearby the main house, Casa da Nogueira. For little children we have a special, round pool, partly visible at the right side of the picture.
The roof at the left side is from the veranda of the bath house, where you can sit in the shade.
From the pool you will have a beautiful view over the river.
Near to the river there are some very old cork oaks. In the shade of one of them you can play chess on a gigantic chess-board.

Cómo Llegar

Quinta do Rio Dão is situated in the middle of Portugal, between Coimbra and Viseu, nearby the small town of Santa Comba Dão. The quinta lies on the east bank of the river Dão, where the river becomes a part of the lake of Aguieira.
Driving times:
By car from Lisbon-airport: 2 hours and 30 minutes.
By car from Oporto-airport: 2 hours.
By car from Spain (Vilar Formosa - border): 2 hours.
By train from Lisbon and Oporto: 3 hours.
Route by car:
Vilar Formosa (border)
Take the IP 5 in the direction of Aveiro. Near Mangualde turn to Nelas / Coimbra on the EN 234. Near Nelas continue in the direction of Coimbra on the highway IC 12. At the end turn to the IP 3 in the direction of Santa Comba Dão / Viseu. Then take the first exit to Vimieiro. (Caution: This exit is very bad signalized, after a corner, just 300 yards before the exit Santa Comba Dão.). Follow the signs "Agro-Turismo" up to Quinta do Rio Dão (3 miles).
From north Portugal (Viseu)
Take the IP3 in direction Coimbra. About 1 km after Santa Comba Dão turn to Vimieiro. Then follow the signs "Agro-Turismo" up to Quinta do Rio Dão (3 miles)
From Lisbon / Oporto
Take the A1 in direction Oporto / Lisbon. Either from Lisbon or Oporto, take the exit Viseu / Figueira da Foz (IP3), near Coimbra (do not take the exit Viseu -IP 5 close to Oporto!). Follow the IP 3 in the direction of Viseu and just before Santa Comba Dão take the exit Vimieiro. (Caution: This exit is very bad signalized, after a corner, just 300 yards before the exit Santa Comba Dão.) Then follow the signs "Agro-Turismo" up to Quinta do Rio Dão (3 miles).
